Let's Play!
Looking in a mirror is not only a fun activity for babies, but it helps with their visual stimulation. By observing their own attributes, children can learn about themselves and their surroundings. Encourage your little ones to explore their reflection and watch as they discover new things about
themselves!
Below are some ideas for activities your little one can do:
-
6 Months - 9 Months+:
-
Place a mirror in front of your little one during tummy time. Point to their different body parts while saying them out loud.
-
Encourage your child to kick their legs while on their belly. See if they can wave a hand
-
Play music and bob around
-
-
12 Months+ (or standing):
-
Sing "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes," dance with them to the song.
-
Let your child jump up and down, watching as they do it. Encourage them to see how strong their legs are when they jump up, wave their hands around etc.
-
This is another good opportunity to practice emotions, making: sad, happy, angry, excited faces etc.
-
Play music and dance in front of the mirror with them
