The Chinese lantern festival is the last day of the Lunar New Year celebrations and is to welcome in the new year with good fortune! The colors usually used are:
Red to represent good fortune and joy
Gold to represent wealth!

Take the paper and cut off a strip horizontally at the top (to be used for the handle)

Fold the paper in half lengthwise

Cut strips (beginning at the folded portion, almost to the other side but not quite!

Fold in half on the short end (hamburger style)

Staple the tops and bottoms.

Attach the handle using a stapler.
