Looking for a fun and engaging art activity to do with your little campers? Why not try making S'mores (without the sticky mess)! This preschool camping art activity is sure to be a hit with your kids!
Materials Needed
S'mores Art Activity
Difficulty Level: Medium
Time Needed: 20 Minutes
Best done: Indoors
Messy level: Medium
Materials Needed
Non-toxic glue
2 equal-sized pieces of cardboard (small)
Brown paper
Cotton Balls
Begin by asking your child to describe what goes into make S'mores (or tell them if they haven't made these before), feel free to show images as well.
To keep this activity more open-ended, ask your child to say what they want to use to create each element of the S'more:
Graham crackers
Chocolate
Marshmallows
Then encourage your child to put all of their pieces together!
For the more crafy approach, make sure the pieces of cardboard are cut into equal-sized rectangles about 3x3 inches.
Have your child(ren) push small dents (like you would see in a graham cracker) into the tops of both rectangles.
If desired, use a marker to color the cotton balls brown/black to give them a “toasted marshmallow” look.
Cut a square (similar to the cardboard size) out of the brown paper for your “chocolate”
Glue the brown paper to the cotton balls-then, once dry, glue the cotton balls in between the two pieces of cardboard.
*Bonus! Follow up this activity by making actual s’mores!
